Luxdon During the Second World War
Like most of England the Second World War was hard time for North East and Luxdon. It wasn’t not long before the Luxdon joined the war effort and started processing 10,000 bundles of Soldiers laundry each week in addition to some 5,000 household bundles and Dry Cleaning.
Luxdon Feeding their Staff
Mr Henry Lumsdon Taylor even found time to command a Company of the Home Guard! In order to cope with rationing problems he also organised the Luxdon Gardens which grew sufficient vegetables to provide staff with a good midday meal. Imagine that? Your company actually growing food in order to look after it’s staff.
